How to open drawer
Troubleshooting
Close windows and door & open the damper plate beneath the grate facing the door to get airflow.
Brush old ash from the previous fire through the grate. The ashtray will not need emptying every time.
When building the start of fire put the fire lighter block in the middle and add small kindling or some paper. Place the charcoal on top of this if you are cooking and allow time for the embers to settle in. If wishing to just use it as
heat and not to cook on just add logs for the flame.
- Charcoal for cooking
- Wood for warmth
The cast iron dishes will need oiling prior to cooking likewise the cast iron grill that sits over the fire to cook on. Please oil this well this saves the task of scrubbing off burnt-on food afterwards. Kindly use the cleaning materials to keep the Arctic Cabin in great working order for our next guests.
Under the bench seating, you will find enamel plates & mugs. We try to discourage glassware whilst in there to avoid any accidents.
